In the period of June 19-22, 2018 for the first time in the Republic of Kazakhstan

(Astana) the 25th World Mining Congress (WMC or WGC) was held.

On June 20, 2018, the Constituent Assembly on the establishment of the Eurasian Academy of Mining Sciences (EAGN or Academy) was held in the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana.

The creation of the Academy was preceded by a lot of work by the initiators of the idea of creating the EAGN - the Presidents of the Academies of Mining Sciences of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

To implement the idea, implement it, promptly resolve emerging issues and coordinate activities, the International Organizing Committee for the Creation of the EAGN (IOC EAGN) was established, which included representatives of the mining science of the countries:

During 2018, preparatory work was carried out by the IOC and the EAGN WG on the organization of the Constituent Assembly, the development and approval of draft documents of the Eurasian Academy of Mining Sciences being created.

Mining scientists from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine took part in the Founding Meeting on the establishment of the EAGN - more than 70 people in total.

Welcoming speech and support for the initiative to create the Eurasian Academy of Mining Sciences was made by the Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassymbek Zh.M. Speakers - representatives of international organizations, ministries, departments, national companies, universities and representatives of the mining community supported and welcomed the creation of the EAGN, expressed a desire to become members and actively cooperate and participate in the innovative development of mining and metallurgical complexes of the countries of the Eurasian continent.

By an open vote of the declared representatives of the founding organizations, the Constituent Assembly unanimously decided to establish the Eurasian Academy of Mining Sciences in the form of an Association of legal entities in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the place of registration in Astana., and also approved the Charter of the EAGN, previously agreed by the members of the IOC of the EAGN.
