DEAR READERS!

With the first issue of the Mining Industry magazine in 2020, we begin a series of publications on the development of the natural resources of the Russian Arctic, understanding these riches primarily as mineral resources.
Industrial development of mineral resources of the Arctic region began in 1930-1940: Vorkuta, Inta - coal; Norilsk - polymetals; Apatites - fertilizers; Magadan - gold and silver, etc. We all know at what cost this development was carried out - the sad methods of the GULAG are well known to us today. At the same time, the development of the Arctic region was based on its own engineering, science and practice solved the issues of large-scale construction, such large cities as Norilsk, Vorkuta, Inta, Apatity, etc. were built, more than a million people lived in the Arctic Circle.
In addition to Russia, Sweden, Finland, the USA and Canada mined mineral resources beyond the Arctic Circle.
Dear readers and partners of the Mining Industry magazine
The situation with the spread of coronavirus in the regions of Russia makes adjustments to the holding of many planned mass events in Russia - exhibitions, conferences, business forums, etc. Such exhibitions as MiningWorld Russia, SAPE-2020, Neftegaz-2020, bauma CTT RUSSIA 2020 have been postponed. The new dates for their implementation have not been determined to date.
Considering that many companies and enterprises are switching to remote work, the editorial board, as its contribution to the fight against coronavirus, decided to send the electronic version of the journal in the first half of 2020 free of charge to everyone. For all questions, please contact the editorial office: info@mining-media.ru, tel.: +7499 230-27-70
